SwabTek and Doerner Investigations & K9 Detection announced a partnership on April 20, 2023. The Southern California firm planned to incorporate presumptive narcotics and gunshot-residue tests into its investigations, canine sweeps and search services.
The announcement described work across Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside and Santa Barbara counties. Doerner's clients included schools, entertainment and sports venues, cargo companies and manufacturers—settings where teams may need to investigate a suspected substance or residue on site.
Founder Amy Doerner was introduced to SwabTek through the California Narcotics Canine Association. The partnership reflected an interest in adding a compact screening tool to established professional search procedures. A presumptive result supports further investigation and confirmation; it is not, by itself, proof of criminal activity or that a person fired a weapon.
